An immersive journey through First Nations song and dance, narrated by the late David Gulpilil.
150 dancers. Nine locations. One country.
Carriberrie is a completed, multi-award-winning immersive VR experience narrated by the late David Gulpilil. It carries the viewer through First Nations song and dance traditions, with more than 150 dancers across nine locations across the Australian continent.
Shot on the Jaunt One, with script by Wiradjuri author Tara June Winch, the work was developed in cultural collaboration with Marilyn Miller of the Laura Aboriginal Dance Festival and senior Walmajarri woman Annette Kogolo. It received funding support from Screen Australia and Film Victoria.
An educational website version was created with the National Film and Sound Archive and designer Patrik Hubner. The work has screened at the Australian Museum (world premiere, Weave Festival) and internationally across museums, planetariums and festivals.
